Code Clubbers Visit Sage

29 Pupils from Balliol Primary School in Newcastle upon Tyne visited Sage to discover ‘The World of Work’

Sage supports Code Club, a nationwide network of volunteer-led after school coding clubs for children aged 9-11. We have many volunteers from Sage running Clubs across the region.

Code Club volunteers from Sage invited a school into visit us, as ’The World of Work ‘ is on the national curriculum. During the day we talked about how technology has changed since Sage was founded, different job roles within Sage, and the pupils enjoyed a packed lunch and tour of the building. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the pupils, and to try and answer their challenging questions, such as “How many miles of cables are in this building?”, “How many stairs are there in this building?”.

Michaela, a teaching assistant at the school said: “A huge thank you to all at Sage, especially to the Code Club volunteers, who truly inspired many of the children from Balliol Primary School. It was lovely to walk around such an impressive building and hearing so many of the children filled with aspirations and saying ‘I want to work here when I am older’.
