Sage provides the spark for tech startups at ignite100’s new Campus North venue

Campus NorthWe’re excited to announce a new partnership with ignite100, Europe’s first £1m tech accelerator programme, to support their work with tech startups at their 10,000 sq ft co-working and events space in Newcastle dubbed ‘Campus North’.

ignite100 encourages start-ups from all over the world to apply to join an 18 week accelerator programme in return for seed funding, mentoring and the chance to pitch for future investment.

Having outgrown its original facilities after three years, Campus North is a brand new 10,000 square foot co-working and event space which will be home to over 150 founders, developers and designers.

Paul Smith, Co-founder and Director of Ignite100 said: “I’m delighted that Sage is now leading the way by working with Campus North to support early-stage tech start-ups. A successful tech cluster can demonstrate success to the outside and support itself from within, and Sage certainly embodies those principals.”

Funding and expertise

As well as supporting the initiative financially with a £10,000 cash injection for events and business community development, Sage will also provide expertise and guidance for Ignite100 teams and Campus North residents.

This will be in the form of business mentors and also developers for ‘Code Club’, special classes for nine to eleven year olds to develop their coding skills. Sage employees will also be available for master classes, fireside chats, and workshops on topics including web development, UX, testing, design, cloud hosting, marketing, sales, eCommerce, accounts and payroll.

Paul Smith continued: “Sage has inspired plenty of entrepreneurs in the past; now that they are actively supporting technology businesses in Newcastle through community support and mentoring, it will continue to do so in the future.”

This new partnership draws on our extensive experience of supporting the UK start-up community and we’re looking forward to further supporting the burgeoning local tech start-up scene.”

“Our cloud-based accounts, payroll, and eCommerce services Sage One and Sage Pay are already helping tens of thousands of start-ups and small businesses to work online from anywhere in the world. By supporting Ignite100 and Campus North we’re sending out a clear message that you don’t have to be based in London to start or grow a successful technology business.”
