Young inventor wins Sage One pitching competition at NACUE’s National Student Enterprise Conference 2013

Nottingham-based student Tom Gallagher has won a Samsung Chromebook and free 12 month license of our Sage One Accounts software after winning our live pitching competition at the National Student Enterprise Conference.

The young inventor was chosen after wowing almost 300 delegates with his idea for an ultra-compact, foldable chair – the killer line being that it will fold down to roughly the size of a DVD case!

Tom was one of 21 people to pitch their business idea to me over the 2 days, before being shortlisted and invited to pitch again to the entire audience alongside Lauren Summers (Bleau), Chris Savill and Hakim Gabailli (Flourish).

All 3 pitches were superb but the ecstatic crowd reaction saw Tom emerge as overall winner with Lauren, Chris and Hakim winning free Sage One Accounts for their business as runners up.

It was really tough to narrow the 21 ideas down to just a top 3 so we decided to award another 7 people with a free copy of Emma Jones’ 2013 edition of The Start-Up Guide to help them develop their business ideas further.

Tom was clearly moved to have received so much support and encouragement from his peers and we wish him every success as he sets out to bring his exciting new product to launch with the help of his new Chromebook and Sage One Accounts.
