Instead of us just telling you how great Sage One is, we asked real-life user Aidan Garnish (65Hours Limited) what he thought about our cloud-based Sage One Payroll software.
1. Hi Aidan, could you please give me a brief summary of who you are, what you do and the name of your business?
I am Aidan Garnish, a freelance SharePoint consultant working for my company 65Hours Limited in Newcastle upon Tyne. I currently provide SharePoint consulting and development services to a number of businesses including Northumbrian Water and TirOne.
2. How many people do you use Sage One Payroll to manage?
It’s just me at the moment.
3. How long have you been using Sage One Payroll? What were you using beforehand? Why did you change?
I have been using Sage One Payroll for just over 6 months. Before that I was using a payroll service provided through an accounting firm but I wasn’t particularly satisfied with the service I was getting. Payslips were not being provided on time and the service didn’t provide me with the flexibility I was after. With Sage One Payroll I can access my payslips immediately, see at a glance exactly how much I need to pay myself each month and, perhaps most importantly, how much I need to pay HMRC and when.
4. What do you love best about Sage One Payroll?
The thing I like best about Sage One Payroll is how easy it is to use. I was able to set my payroll up in a few minutes and then it just takes a couple of minutes each month to run and pay myself. The countdown to when I next need to pay HMRC is also really useful and provides peace of mind that my tax payments are up to date.
5. What advice would you give to someone starting out in business / following in your footsteps?
When I set up 65Hours Limited there were lots of administrative tasks to complete and processes to set up. As there were so many other things to deal with at the time, payroll seemed like something I should get help with from an accountant. If I had known just how easy and convenient it would be to run my own payroll with Sage One I would have started using it from the beginning.
