Britain’s #StartUpDay; where will you find your inspiration?

It’s Wednesday 14th November and it’s also Start Up Britain’s #StartUpDay.

In an economy that is relying on enterprise to drag the country out of the recession, and with over half a million businesses launched every year – it’s hard to ignore the fact that Britain truly is built on entrepreneurial spirit.

What does it mean to be an entrepreneur? Regardless of age, experience, backing – we have found through our customers at Sage One that as long as you have the right support, and a good amount of dedication and passion, then you’re on the right track to turning a good business idea, into simply a good business.

There are many barriers to success for today’s entrepreneur – and it’s a scarier market now than it has ever been.  Aggressive competition, navigating online tools, searching for investors, fraud, data security, financial transparency.  It’s not an easy landscape to navigate.

But there are tools and services ready and waiting to guide you through these dark patches, and help you maximise the positive ones – leading to less scary terms like sales, expansion, reputation and profit.

That’s what Start Up Britain is about – to help entrepreneurs get what they need to start, support or fund a business in finding its feet and path to success.

This year we are supporting the first ever awards ceremony which celebrates the success of the over 50 entrepreneur in association with The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise.  PRIME stand for the range and diversity of businesses that are launched by this demographic ever year – and it shows you that the most exciting ideas aren’t just coming from the established businesses.  They’re coming from startups launching all over the UK.

More important than age and experience, you have to have drive and ambition. It’s never too late to start a business; and with benefits like more freedom and flexibility we are seeing huge innovation and ideas coming from this and indeed, many other sectors of society; parents going back to work after the birth of a child, graduates looking to work for themselves rather than get on the merry-go-round of interviews… It’s an exciting time to be in business in Britain.

At Sage One we believe that with the right business solutions in place, anything is achievable.

Sometimes, all you really need is a great idea.  So the questions is – what’s yours?
